The restaurant in the Zagreb’s most exclusive hotel Regent Esplanade has a decades long tradition on the Orient Express route. It has had two foreign chefs in the last eight years, Marco Fontenelle and Jeffrey J. Velle, but it is now run by a young creative Ana Grgić. She has been working in Esplanade for the last 12 years, just washing salads at the beginning, but learning her way up to becoming Velle’s substitute, and now has been given a chance to prove how Zinfandel will look under her guidance. As she says, Zinfandel remains a place with best štrukle (pastry typical of Zagorje) in town, side by side with the more luxurious dishes of molecular gastronomy. Traditional Croatian dishes as well as classical desserts are prepared a bit differently here.
