Rijeka
VN:F [1.9.20_1166]
Rating: 5.0/5 (1 vote cast)

Rijeka is one part grit and one part glam, with a dash of coastal cool. Grand Neo-Baroque buildings sit alongside Mediterranean-style villas and industrial shipyards – and somehow, it works. Just off the highway between Zagreb and Istria, Rijeka is a great spot to stop and stretch your legs. Where else can you visit a ruined Roman gate, an Austro-Hungarian clock tower, and the world’s first torpedo factory all in one go?
